The other animals can choose to inhale, ingest and roll in valerian, and present behaviour of drooling, rolling, stillness, funny vocal noises, dilated pupils, playfulness, zoned out, and sleep.

Valerian contains various compounds, one of which is valerinic acid, a compound that counterbalances glutamate, an excitatory neurotransmitter by increasing GABA. Too much glutamate and not enough GABA creates anxiety, restlessness, hyperactivity etc.

By inhibiting the breakdown of GABA, and by binding to GABA receptors in the brain and blocking its reuptake, GABA is increased, which creates relaxation.

Valerian is an amazing remedy that when selected via self selection enables relaxation, sleep, rest, and release.
